We bought this adorable historic Duplex in Charleston SC! Like many historic homes in Charleston, she needs some love. With years of new tenants moving in and out and landlord special galore – we are excited to give this 178 year old beauty a new life line.

Lets talk about practicality. I love old homes – and I want to do everything in my power to honor the age and time period. But lets be real. My partner and I – were both in our upper 20’s, and we both appreciate more modern amenities, and comforts. Like good working AC! But we need to be realistic about budget. Some things to truly restore are going to be out of budget. So the main theme here is going to be honor the home as best as we can – sticking to timeless design!

Charleston is also a historic preservation area – so exterior changes, such as new paint, windows ,etc. have to be approved.

Unlike some of our other projects – because of the age. We will be hiring out bigger projects.

But Lets get into the pictures! It’s a duplex with essentially an identical layout.

Phew thats a lot right. & then we have to do it all again basically. I could add on more – like I’d love to restore the original hardwoods, they could use love.
