I love the look of fluted glass – also sometimes known as reeded glass. It looks elegant, french inspired, and most importantly allows a layer of privacy similar without blocking the light. Similar to frosted glass but so much better.

We, Mitch and I plus our 2 animals, were living in a studio condo. 670 sq.ft. total. And while it wasn’t a space we were frequently entertaining in, it was in the heart of downtown, and we would often have people over before going out, to dinner, catching a game or a play – you name it!

That said, we wanted to add a small barrier from our “bedroom” without closing off the space, or blocking the light.

Lets start off with the inspo…

The above is very expensive and best of all – I don’t own a truck. So, I went off in a “renter friendly” approach to get the look.

First, the design – I wanted equal rectangles floor to ceiling.

I ended up using primed MDF boards to create the frame. I used the “sandwich” method, creating two identical frames and placing the fluted “glass” between, but if you have access to a router, you could create channels to slide the glass into.

Second problem, if I was sandwiching, how was I going to secure the glass without shattering it.
The Solution… Greenhouse Plexiglass from Lowes. You heard me right. Greenhouse glass.

Best yet – they cut it there for me so I could get it in my car. With some pocket holes and lots of brackets to secure it, voila.
